Mary-Jane Elliott

MJ founded Consilium in 2013 and brings more than 25 years of financial PR and pharma industry experience to the firm. 

Before launching Consilium she set up and led the international healthcare practice at M:Communications having previously been a Partner at WPP's Buchanan Communications. She started her career at PowderJect Pharmaceuticals plc, a FTSE250 vaccines and drug delivery firm in Oxford, UK, initially as a scientist before moving into communications and investor relations.

She is an expert in financial, corporate and scientific communications and media management having advised on a range of high-profile friendly and hostile M&A deals, IPOs, financings, industry transactions, clinical data findings and client crises. Mary-Jane has a BSc (Hons) in BioMedical Sciences.

What is your proudest professional achievement?

It has to be executing on the management buy-out of the business 10 years ago with the vision of creating the leading international healthcare focused financial PR and corporate communications agency in Europe.

Seeing our business significantly grow transatlantically, expand its client base globally and achieve this goal has been deeply rewarding. However, most pleasing of all has been the outstanding new talent we have attracted to the firm over the past few years and the wonderful culture we have formed.

When not at work, where would we likely find you?

I'm a keen runner, dog walker and wild swimmer. Usually accompanied by a family member or friend (and of course with our loyal cocker spaniel who is always miles ahead of me!). It's a great way to decompress, think, plan and laugh.

What is one thing people do not know by looking at you?

I'm fascinated by anyone developing treatments for synovial sarcomas and help the sarcoma.org.uk charity to better educate children and families about the diagnosis and treatment of rare cancers.
